As we say farewell to 2013, MEPs gear up for the European elections 2014 and the Greek presidency will be welcomed with the new year.

2014 Agenda: the year to Act, React, Impact

From January, it'll be a busy session as  the EP returns from the Christmas break.

We don’t just bid au revoir to 2013  but also to Lithuania

as Greece takes over the rotating  Council Presidency of the EU on 1 January.

Priorities for the 6 months ahead include:

jobs and growth, migration  and maritime policies.

So can Greece -  mired in its own economic problems -

It was the solution  to prevent another economic crisis:

severing the link from national governments  especially vis-à-vis failing banks.

Could 2014 be the year we stop talking  about it and actually have a Banking Union,

especially with Parliament elections  around the corner?

Well as we wait and see,  another highlight will be an inquiry

into the Troika:  the IMF, the ECB and the Commission.

The report by the Economic and Monetary  Affairs Committee is expected in May.

It’s time for Europe to decide, as the 2014  European Parliamentary Elections

Its shaping up to be one of the most  interesting elections for a generation.

As votes will decide which party gets to field  a candidate for Commission President role.
