The Bois du Cazier (Marcinelle, Belgium) was a coal mine which become an industrial heritage site. It was the scene of a major mining disaster that took place on August 8, 1956. 262 men, including a large number of Italian labourers, were killed. The site includes memorials to the disaster and an Industrial Museum and Glass Museum.
