Introductory remarks by Antonio TAJANI, EP President (extracts): minute of silence for the victims of terrorist attacks in Barcelona (17/08), in Helsinki (21/08) and of hurricane Irma

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, <p>At the opening of this new session we must once again recall the innocent victims of the murderous fury of international terrorism; on behalf of all of us I condemn these acts of unhuman violence and I express our solidarity with the families of the victims of the attacks in Barcelona, Cambrils and the Finnish city of Turku. SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President,  <p>We are proud of our way of life, our freedom and we are proud of our democracy which we will continue to defend. We will not change our way of life. We do not intend to bow our heads when faced with terrorism. Unfortunately however we also have to commemorate other innocent victims. People who lost their lives as a result of the recent natural disasters that struck various region of the European Union throughout the summer and also countries in the Caribbean Sea and the USA; I&rsquo;d like to recall all those innocent people who lost their life and I&rsquo;d like you to join me in a minute of silence, thank you.</p>
