Beskrivelse

From July to December 2018, Austria holds the Presidency of the EU Council for the third time (1998 and 2006 also), following the Bulgarian and preceding the Romanian Presidency.


The Austrian government priorities for the upcoming presidency are security (the fight against illegal immigration by securing external borders), maintaining Europe’s competitiveness through digitization, and stability in Austria’s neighboring countries (working towards EU accession for Western Balkan countries).
