SOUNDBITE (German), Martin SCHULZ, The Conference of Presidents in this morning meeting, according to Annex 16, considered the hearing of UK Commissioner designate and declared it closed. It was decided that the candidacy will be put to the Plenary for consent. I will therefore propose according to rule 152.2 that the vote on the Commissioner designate will be added to today's voting time.Will anyone object to that? No objections.

EP President announce the result of the vote: in favour, 394; against, 161; abstentions 83.

I do not think we are going too far saying that you are taking over under exceptional circumstances. All the best during your period of office as you are very much in favour of the membership of the UK in the EU. That makes logical that you work in the interest of the European Union during your period of office, Sir. Thanks.
