The European Parliament is holding in Brussels a seminar for senior staff of television outlets of all Member States. The seminar is entitled #EUelections2019 - "Choose your Future".

SOUNDBITE (English), Cecilia WIKSTR&#214;M (ALDE, SE), Copyright was adopted only two weeks ago. Extremely political. It aims at providing copyright rules for the digital age. Another similar thing that was discussed widely was the new general data protection rules. The GDPR that entered into force May last year. So now consumers have more control over their digital presence and how their data is being used.

SOUNDBITE (English), Cecilia WIKSTR&#214;M (ALDE, SE), Only last plenary session in Strasbourg legislation to ban single use plastic items, such as plates, cutlery, straws, cut onburd: sticks was adopted by a very large majority in parliament and it was preceded by rules on restricting the use of plastic bags adopted already in 2015. So we have brought about a shift a very rapid shift actually in consumer behavior.

SOUNDBITE (English), Cecilia WIKSTR&#214;M (ALDE, SE), Now we are waiting, this Parliament has delivered by we are waiting for Council to step up their effort. Unfortunately the Dublin regulation, by coincidence I happen to be the rapporteur for that and it has been proven to be the most difficult legislative act during this mandate. Having said that I would like to underline that we the European Parliament. We have delivered according to the Lisbon Treaty on Dublin.

SOUNDBITE (English), Cecilia WIKSTR&#214;M (ALDE, SE), It is time for Council to deliver and to unite, because where we have managed to unite five groups and two hundred and twenty something political parties of the EU, 28 ministers failed until now to deliver on the reform of the Dublin regulation and that is shameful.
