Statement by Martin SCHULZ, EP President following the referendum in Hungary

SOUNDBITE (English), Martin SCHULZ, EP President, <p>I think the attempt to instrumentalize the referendum, by domestic reasons and against the EU and measures of legal legislation in the EU, failed. An overwhelming majority of Hungarians by abstention from the vote, voted at the end against the attempt of the government, and therefore I think we are grateful to the Hungarian people who refused that proposal.</p>
