SOUNDBITE (English), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, <p>Tomorrow, Prime Minister May is expected to trigger Article 50. Fully respecting the democratic will of the majority of the British people. Tomorrow, the Conference of Presidents will discuss the Parliament position on the Brexit negotiations. Next week, we will adopt a resolution and the Parliament will play a key role in deciding the outcome of the negotiations. And as its President I will ensure that all positions will be fairly represented in this debate.</p>

We will be leaving the European Union but we are part of Europe. I am confident the negotiations will be conducted in an atmosphere of good will. President Tajani recognises that actually London voted to remain in the European Union but we accept the results of the British public. We are looking forward to continuing to have an excellent relationship with Europe and the European Union, even after we've left the EU, its structures and its legal institutions.</p>
